An Elegant DIY Wedding Affair

Angela and Praj enjoyed a stylish wedding celebration at Morden Hall.

With just three months to plan their big day celebrations at Morden Hall, Angela and Praj knew they’d need a little help. Friends and family became their personal DIY wedding planners, helping the pair plan their perfect day. “The whole wedding was a collaboration of efforts of our nearest and dearest.”

The love that followed through in all of the day's celebrations was felt by us all.

Quick decision-making was also vital in ensuring the couple met all their deadlines. There wasn’t time to get too hung up on minor details or become attached to huge projects – which in fact, made wedding planning easy.

We had a really straight forward and pleasant experience planning our wedding at Morden Hall.

Looking the part

One of the first items on Angela’s to-do list was to find not one, but two beautiful gowns for her wedding. She opted for a beautiful Oscar De La Renta gown for the ceremony and a stylish Needle and Thread gown for the evening’s shenanigans.

Praj dressed to impress too, in a classic black tuxedo to complement the couple’s elegant affair. He teamed his tux with an evening dress shirt, black silk bow tie and shirt studs from House of Fraser.

To complement the couple’s neutral, earthy colour scheme, which perfectly complemented their London wedding venue. The bridesmaids wore burgundy while the groomsmen added a dash of colour with burgundy accessories.

Wedding day details

Despite having just three months to plan their day, Angela and Praj set their hearts on a DIY wedding. They styled in neutral colours, using green foliage, crisp white accents and gold detailing. Their handmade efforts included favours – wedding mugs for all their guests – golden oyster shell name cards, and a floral seating plan. The pair also sourced all of their flowers themselves, opting for fresh wild flower décor and bouquets.

Flowers were also crucial to the couple’s wedding breakfast décor. Angela and Praj combined eucalyptus leaves with gold candlesticks and lanterns for a look that was luxurious yet simple.

Family and friends played a major role too. Angela’s bridesmaid created all the signage and the couple’s wedding cake while her auntie made a huge crossword for guests to enjoy during cocktail hour.

The evening’s celebrations saw the couple and their guests enjoy the party of a lifetime. The dance floor was packed all night long while added extras, including a photo booth and table football, ensured guests were entertained from start to finish.

Angela’s top wedding tip:

Don’t be afraid to ask friends and family for help. We had a close-knit group of wonderful and reliable friends who took on some of our wedding tasks on our behalf. It all made for a stress free planning experience and lots of little surprises for us to enjoy – along with everyone else – when the day arrived.
