Keep your Cool: Summer Wedding Attire
How we love a summer wedding. With romance in the air, it’s time to dream of welcome drinks in the beautiful gardens at Morden Hall and celebrations under blue skies. From elegant bridal gowns to beautiful bridesmaid dresses and sophisticated attire for grooms, we hope these summer fashion trends will offer a little inspiration when it comes to your bridal style.
All about the Bride
When it comes to style, a loose, full skirt can be more comfortable on a warm day than a tighter fitting fishtail gown. It also embraces the country look and is ideal if you fancy a game of croquet on the lawn at Morden Hall!

Consider a cooler fabric. Silk is breathable and beautiful while a sheer fabric like chiffon is a beautifully lightweight choice for the summer.

If you love the idea of a lace gown, avoid a heavy lace that could be very warm on a hot day. Instead, look out for a dress with Chantilly lace which is fine and delicate.

If you’re considering a shorter dress, a summer wedding gives you the perfect opportunity to go for it!

When it comes to accessories, consider a shrug or shawl – just the thing if you need a little warmth in the evening, especially if you plan to continue the celebrations outside. Embrace Boho style with a lace shawl or simple elegance with a feather or faux fur wrap.

And of course, you might want to buy a few parasols for your bridal party. As well as giving you some shade from the sun… they make a great prop for photographs!

Pretty Bridesmaids
When choosing bridesmaid dresses for your summer wedding, the same considerations apply and it’s best to avoid heavy fabrics and overly-fitted styles. Chiffon dresses are a great choice, particularly if you would like to have floor-length gowns.

Consider a shorter skirt, just above or below the knee to keep your favourite girls feeling cool.

Soft pastel gowns look fabulous at summer weddings, echoing the natural beauty of the surrounding gardens. You might even choose a different colour for each of your bridesmaids.

Of course, white is the ultimate ‘cool’ colour and a perfectly acceptable choice for bridesmaids, made popular by Pippa Middleton. The overall look is stunning.

Consider a pattern – there’s nothing we love more than a floral dress on a sunny day! Mismatched florals lend a wonderful Boho style.

Let’s Hear it for the Boys!
If you’re planning a more formal celebration, navy is a softer, summer alternative to black. Pair with a white shirt and a tie to co-ordinate with your bridesmaids.

Capture country style with pale-coloured trousers, white shirts, and braces.

A linen suit is a cool alternative and a great choice on a warm day.

Shades of white, grey and cream are a fashionable choice for summer grooms wear. You can always add bright accents through colourful ties and buttonholes…

Why not be bold and add some colour to the suit or jacket? These styles are effortlessly elegant.

And finally… add some pattern and print to your grooms wear.
